Our Story at the Wellspring & Yew

The Wellspring and Yew is the result of my personal and professional journey towards wholeness. Throughout my life and career, I’ve become aware of the impact of peak experiences – moments of awe and deep connection and perhaps you’ve experienced this too. Whether through counselling, meditation, festivals, retreats, profound conversations, music, or creative pursuits, these moments illuminate our world and offer a glimpse of something beyond our everyday perception. They create an opening, a portal if you like, where we sense the possibility of significant change.

But what happens after these experiences? When we return home, turn the key in the lock, and find ourselves alone, or surrounded by others who haven’t shared in those moments? We go back to juggling the many roles we play in modern life—parent, carer, employee, daughter, sibling, friend. The insights, thoughts, and feelings from those profound experiences can begin to fade, and we slowly fall back into the daily grind. Sometimes, the pressures increase, propelling us further backwards, making us feel like we’re right back at the start.
In my own journey, I’ve come to realise that sustainable growth and expansion are gradual, ongoing processes towards wholeness. The key to this journey is integration, but integration is the hardest part. Why? Because it happens when we’re alone, where for many of us we faced our deepest crises—making it a place that can be difficult to return to.
The Wellspring and Yew is not just an idea but a real place in nature where I’ve found a deep sense of connection—to myself and my place in the world. It’s a place I was guided to through the sharing of stories and wisdom. Now, I hope to create something similar here in Burland, in this beautiful space lovingly created and shared by Emma and Rob at The Yard. It’s a space where you can engage in those moments of profound shift through our evolving range of offerings, but with a keen awareness of the importance of integration and the cyclical nature of life.
Our team is growing, as professionals are drawn to the space, eager to share their wisdom and expertise with both you and their colleagues. All of our practitioners are experts in their fields—highly trained, qualified, experienced, and well-supported in their work. At The Wellspring and Yew, we create a community for both professionals and visitors, ensuring the practices we offer are rooted in many years of professional experience and informed by contemporary theories and practices. We recognise that people need different things at different times, and we aim to offer as much of that as we can, referring you to someone we trust if we feel they are better placed to help.
